PST SPORT CLUB OF THE MONTH | MARCH 2024 WINNERS

Congratulations to the four divisional winners

The PST Sport Club of the Month Awards for March 2024 have been announced.

In the Pitching In Southern League Premier Central, it is Kettering Town who have taken the honour.

They started the month with a hard-earned but richly-deserved 1-0 victory over play-off hopefuls, Stratford Town, as Dan Jarvis hit the winning goal.

It was the same scoreline in their next outing as they came home from in-form AFC Sudbury with maximum points courtesy of an early strike from Michael Reindorf Junior.

A brace from Addillanie Yussuf secured a 2-0 triumph over Alvechurch in their next game and it was the same story seven days later as Yussuf helped himself to both goals in a 2-1 win against Barwell to compete a perfect month in which they won all four League games and conceded just one goal.

Over in the Pitching In Southern League Premier South, it is Dorchester Town who claim the crown.

They battled out a 2-1 victory over Beaconsfield Town to get the ball rolling. Shaquille Gwengwe gave them a first half lead and although their opponents drew level, Will Spetch was on hand to win it with just over ten minutes to go.

Next up was a reverse of this fixture and it proved to be equally as hard-fought as they managed to come home with a 4-3 triumph. Will Spetch picked up where he left off in the previous encounter by opening the scoring but that was soon cancelled out and then the hosts forged ahead before the break. The second half saw recent arrival, Luke Pardoe, restore parity before Spetch put the Dorset outfit back in front. Oliver Haste looked to have made the game safe with a four goal and although the home team reduced the arrears in stoppage time, it proved too little, too late for them.

There may have been fewer goals in their next game, but it was certainly a statement victory as Olaf Koszela’s goal on 25 minutes proved to be the difference against high-flying Salisbury.

The month ended with a 1-1 away draw at Winchester City as Shaquille Gwengwe put them ahead only for the hosts to equalise on the hour-mark. Nevertheless, it was a good point on the road.

The Pitching In Southern League Division One Central prize goes to Hadley.

Their month could not have got off to a better start as they beat North Leigh 6-0 in a game that saw Isaac Stones help himself to four of the goals, with George Alfieri and Brad Marriott getting the others.

Buoyed by the emphatic win, they then went to title hopefuls, Bedford Town, and secured an impressive 3-2 success. The home side took the lead before Luke Alfano levelled matters, but within a minute of that, they fell behind again right on the stroke of half-time. A goal from Caoilan McGettigan restored parity on the hour and then Jay Rolfe put them ahead for the first time in the game with 20 minutes left on the clock and they were able to see it out to record a good win.

Next up was a trip to Kings Langley where Billy Hayes put them ahead in the opening period only for the hosts to grab a share of the spoils late on.

Back on home soil for the next game where an impressive first half display saw them race into a three-goal lead against Hertford Town with Isaac Stones getting things rolling early on before Billy Hayes and Luke Alfano added to their advantage. The visitors pulled one back early in the second period but they had the game in the bag by then.

Another six-goal haul followed, this time away at Kempston Rovers where Isaac Stones opened the scoring and then Germaine Dua, Caoilan McGettigan and Luke Alfano gave them a 4-0 half-time lead. Stones and Finley Aldridge added further goals with the only blemish coming as the hosts grabbed a last-minute consolation.

The month came to a close with another triumph on their travels as they came from behind to beat Leighton Town with Caoilan McGettigan and Finley Aldridge getting the goals as they prospered 2-1.

Finally, in the Pitching In Southern League Division One South it’s Wimborne Town who are the winners.

They got the month underway with a long trip to Mousehole which yielded a 3-1 win. Matt Burrows put them ahead as half-time approached but the lead lasted for barely two minutes. After the break, they got the job done thanks to goals from Cameron Munn and Billy Walker.

A return to home action saw them pushed all the way by Tavistock as they eventually ran out 3-2 winners. Matthew Neale set them on their way but again they conceded soon afterwards. Billy Walker fired them back ahead early in the second half but they were pegged back once more with quarter-of-an-hour to go until Josh Carmichael came off the bench to snatch a late winner.

Another stern test followed as they were pushed all the way at Malvern Town. Jack Lovell finally made the breakthrough just after the hour-mark but again they could only hold on to their lead for four minutes. However, they showed tremendous character to go on and win it with just three minutes to go through Harry Baker.

The month concluded with another hard-fought success, this time a 3-2 home victory over Westbury United. Connor Cocklin and Matthew Neale put them in the driving seat during the opening period. The visitors reduced the arrears on the hour-mark before Jonathon Stuttle fired in a third goal. The visitors pulled another back late on, but they were able to see the game out to maintain their 100% record over the course of the month.

We congratulate the four winners:

Premier Central – Kettering Town (3.000ppg)
Premier South – Dorchester Town (2.500ppg)
Division One Central – Hadley (2.667 ppg)
