PITCHING IN SOUTHERN LEAGUE PREMIER CENTRAL | WEEKEND REVIEW

Plenty of drama

The Pitching In Southern League Premier Central saw AFC Telford United move into second place following a commanding 3-0 away win at Long Eaton United.

An early goal from Ricardo Dinanga set them on their way before Matt Stenson doubled the advantage on the hour and Dinanga rounded things off late on.

They leapfrogged Mickleover who were held to a 1-1 home draw with play-off hopefuls, Stratford Town. Oliver Greaves put the hosts ahead just past the hour, but it was cancelled out by Tyrell Skeen-Hamilton with just under 20 minutes to go.

There was a 3-0 triumph for Leamington which put a big dent in Stamford’s hopes of sneaking into the play-offs. Jack Edwards and Adam Walker put the Brakes in the driving seat during the opening period before Callum Stewart added a third goal in stoppage time at the end.

Redditch United are back firing on all cylinders as they chalked up a 5-0 triumph over Leiston. Skipper, Reece Flanagan, led by example to open the scoring and then Alex Cameron added a second on the stroke of half-time. After the break, Cameron added another to his tally and then Brad Burton made it four before Danny King completed the scoring.

The battle to avoid the drop is hotting up after AFC Sudbury went to Bromsgrove Sporting and won 2-0 in a result which leaves them just a point from safety and keeps their opponents involved in the relegation battle. The experienced Simeon Jackson opened the scoring after he recently came out of retirement to join the club. The goal also means that he scored in each of the top seven tiers of the English game. Josh Allen weighed in with a second goal to clinch the victory late on.

Hitchin Town continue to look nervously over their shoulders after they went down 1-0 at home to Halesowen Town, for whom Kieren Donnelly got the all-important goal on 67 minutes.

There was a third win of the season for Berkhamsted as they came from behind t beat Barwell 2-1. Jahvan Davidson-Miller wasted little time at the start of the second period to put the visitors ahead, but that was soon cancelled out by Luke Massingham as Tom Newman went on to win it.

A brace from Kian Harness gave Royston Town a good 4-0 victory over Kettering Town as Ronnie Henry and Andronicos Georgiou notched the other two goals. Also scoring four was St. Ives Town as they beat Stourbridge 4-1. Theo Alexandrou put the hosts in at the break ahead and then Jonny Edwards doubled the lead on the hour. Brendon Daniels pulled one back for the visitors but within three minutes, Josh Tomlinson had restored the two-goal lead for the home side. Gregory Kaziboni finished the game off when he hit the fourth.

The day’s other game saw Ashley Chambers’ brace for Coalville Town give them all three points against Alvechurch, who took the lead through Finley Thorndike.
