PITCHING IN SOUTHERN LEAGUE DIVISION ONE CENTRAL | WEEKEND REVIEW

A round-up of the action

There was drama at the top of the Pitching In Southern League Division One Central as leaders, Biggleswade Town, snatched a 93rd minute winner against relegation battlers, Thame United.

It was Robert Parker who popped up to break the hearts of the visitors and ensure that his side were five points clear.

Second-placed Bedford Town went goal crazy against Hertford Town as they ran out 7-0 winners with Liam Dulson getting things underway in the second minute. Leon Lobjoit helped himself to two goals as Kyle Connolly, Ryan Blake, Carl Mensah and Jemale Olayinka also got their names on the scoresheet.

Ware were held to a goalless draw at Aylesbury United and they are now just a point ahead of AFC Dunstable, who didn’t play, and Waltham Abbey, who were convincing 4-0 winners over North Leigh with Aaron Eyoma, Ben Baker, Nathan Twin-Koranteng and Ayobami Tanimowo.

Just outside the play-off places, Welwyn Garden City lost for the second time in as many days as they went down 3-1 at Stotfold despite taking the lead towards the end of the opening period through a Conor Clarke own goal. Leading scorer, Henry Snee got the hosts back in it before Alex Coppin and Kae Bagge bagged stoppage time goals.

Relegation was confirmed for Kempston Rovers as they lost 6-2 at Kings Langley, for whom Louie Collier hit four of the goals. The others were scored by Sam Murphy and Jake Tibbetts, whilst Joshua Adepoju and Erin Amu got the goals for the visitors.

It was a good day for Kidlington as not only did they see rivals Thame United lose, but they also got their own business done by beating Leighton Town 4-1. Lee Cooksey put the visitors ahead in first half stoppage time but this only acted to spring the hosts into life after the break as Declan Shepperd, Josh Davies and Mekhai Bessasa-Grant had them well ahead within the opening 20 minutes of the second half. The scoring was rounded off late on by Charlie Bacon.

There was a convincing 3-0 triumph for Cirencester Town against Barton Rovers as Jake Lee, Reegan Messenger and Nick Peare got the goals.
Hadley’s good form continued with a hard-earned 2-1 victory of Biggleswade FC. Isaac Stones got things rolling once more for the hosts but that was cancelled out at the start of the second period by Alex Marsh. The winner came from the boot of Zacharias Uribarri with 20 minutes to go.
