HAYES & YEADING UNITED | PASSION AND DESIRE

Successive wins boost survival hopes

Successive victories have given Hayes & Yeading United a much-needed shot of belief as they prepare for their final three Pitching In Southern League Premier South games which will decide their fate.

Having beaten Basingstoke Town 1-0 at home, they followed it up with a tremendous 2-1 away triumph at Gosport Borough on Saturday, a result which moved them out of the relegation zone.

“You could see how much the three points meant to everyone at the end on Saturday,” said recently-installed manager, Andy Leese. “It reiterated to me exactly why I agreed to come in here and take this challenge on.

“To secure six points from what were two tough games against sides within the leading pack is a fantastic achievement and I could not have asked for any more from the players.

“They gave everything and showed the kind of passion and desire that I want from my teams. It proves exactly what we are capable of against the leading sides in this League and will stand us in good stead for the final run-in.”

Leese’s side face their final home game on Saturday as they host Salisbury before heading to Plymouth Parkway next Wednesday and then rounding things off at Bracknell Town on the final day.
