Saturday`s Emirates FA Cup Preview

Looking at some of the ties involving Southern League clubs.

It`s Emirates FA Cup time again on Saturday, and several clubs from the Pitching In Southern League face tricky Preliminary Round ties against lower division opposition.

Division One Central club Aylesbury United take on Uhlsport Hellenic League Division One East minnows Long Crendon at home.

The Ducks Buckinghamshire neighbours are in the FA Cup for the very first time.

They enjoyed a stellar 2018/19 treble-winning season when they were crowned champions of the Hellenic Division Two East and were Berks & Bucks Intermediate Cup and Oving Cup winners.

Division One South side Sholing face an awkward trip to Sydenhams Football League (Wessex) Premier outfit Bemerton Heath Harlequins, while the Boatmen`s league rivals and neighbours AFC Totton are also on the road against lower division opponents in Hellenic League Premier Division Binfield.

Another intriguing tie sees Stowmarket Town, who were looking likely winners of the Thurlow Nunn League Premier Division before lockdown, travel to Division One Central side Yaxley`s 3G pitch at In2itive Park.

The league are assured of teams in the draw for the next round with several all-Southern League ties.

These include the rebuilt Thatcham Town team from Division One South entertaining Division One Central side AFC Dunstable, while there`s a local derby between Division One Central rivals Kidlington and Thame United at Yarnton Road.

Another all-Division One Central tie sees Bedford Town travel to Communications Park to play Daventry Town.

One of the biggest crowds of the round could well be at the Lyme Valley Stadium where Northern Premier League Division One South East side Newcastle Town welcome Division One Central outfit Halesowen Town, who had such a terrific 2019/20 campaign before the pandemic struck.

The full draw involving Southern League clubs is in the fixture section of this website and a round-up of all the games will be on the site tomorrow evening.
