Gash Coup for Peterborough Sports

Turbines pull of major signing ahead of the new campaign.

Ambitious Pitching In Southern Football League Premier Division Central club Peterborough Sports have pulled of something of a coup by signing striker Michael Gash from Vanarama National league side King`s Lynn Town.

The vastly experienced 34-year-old couldn`t commit to the full-time training regime that the Linnets are introducing next season and decided to join his ambitious local club.

Gash joined King`s Lynn back in July 2017 and helped Lynn to two promotions, making over 150 appearances and scoring almost 50 goals.
He started his career with Peterborough United and then Cambridge United and Cambridge City.

It was in his time with the latter that he was most prolific, scoring 23 goals from 35 appearances resulting in a move to Ebbsfleet United in August 2008 in a deal worth £20,000.

Ten goals from 40 appearances for Fleet saw him attract a £55,000 bid from York City where he spent the following two seasons which also saw a loan to the now defunct Rushden & Diamonds.

He returned to Cambridge United on a free transfer in June 2011 and stayed for two seasons which also saw loan spells with Braintree Town and Kidderminster Harriers.

He moved to Kidderminster in 2013 and, after a loan to Nuneaton Borough, left them by mutual consent in January 2015.

He then signed for Barnet and made his Football League debut in August 2015.

Twelve months later a cruciate ligament injury saw him miss the remainder of the 2016/17 season and he was released by the Bees at the end of his contract after scoring 13 goals from 55 appearances.

In total, Gash has scored in excess of 180 goals in over 600 senior games.

Sports manager Jimmy Dean said: “Michael adds undoubted quality and depth to an already very competitive squad.

“Things in life are all about timing and this one makes perfect sense for everyone”.
