Locally born, Garwood, who turns 17 tomorrow, started his career with Chesterfield, playing in the under-18s, before spending the last year with Vanarama National League rivals Notts County FC where he made the first team bench a few times.

Young defender Pat Casey, 20, graduated to Diamonds` first-team squad after impressing at academy level having previously spent time with Northampton Town`s academy.

He made his first-team debut aged 17 in a Hillier Senior Cup game in September 2018, following that up with a man-of-the-match appearance in the following round.

He also signed for Bugbrooke St Michaels on dual registration, playing for them in the United Counties League.

Another 20-year-old, midfielder Matthew Slinn, has also been rewarded with a new contract.

He joined Diamonds in late July 2019 having been released by League Two neighbours Northampton`s academy.

He gained experience on loan with UCL Premier Division side Cogenhoe United in 2018/19.

Manager Andy Peaks told his club`s website: “I’m really pleased to be able to offer both of these young players contracts for the new season. They both work hard, have great attitudes and listen to the advice that’s given to them. Having them on contracts means that the club’s investment in them is protected as I’m sure they will have scouts looking at them this season”.
