Buchan Returns to Bideford

Striker Mattie Buchan has re-joined Pitching In Southern League Division One South club Bideford AFC on loan from Southern Premier Division South side Tiverton Town as manager Sean Joyce looks to bolster his attacking options for the league run-in.

Buchan, a popular figure at the Sports Ground last season scored 11 goals in 32 appearances as we secured our Southern League status and won the Devon St Luke's Challenge Cup.

That earned the 24-year-old a step up a level with Tivvy in July 2022.

He had originally joined Bideford in August 2021 on dual registration with Toolstation Western League side Helston Athletic.

He returned to former club Helston in March 2020 having left for Falmouth Town in 2018, scoring 31 goals in 61 games over the previous two years, but opted to begin a second spell at Helston, who were top of the South West Peninsula League Premier West at the time before lockdown.

The former Cornwall under-18 player was part of Falmouth's Cornwall Senior Cup-winning side in 2019.
