Bracknell Through in Isuzu FA Trophy But Tamworth & Leiston Bow Out

The weather affected the Fourth Round of the Isuzu FA Trophy, with two of the five Pitching In Southern Football League clubs left in the competition facing midweek games.

Premier Division Central club Coalville Town’s tie against Vanarama National League North side Banbury United was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch at the Banbury Plant Hire Community Stadium.

As was Premier Division South club Harrow Borough’s home tie against National League outfit FC Halifax Town.

However, the league does have one club through into the hat for Monday’s draw as Harrow’s league rivals Bracknell Town earned a late, late win at The SB Stadium against National League South side Bath City.

A last-gasp goal from Jack Dean saw Bracknell through after it had been a fairly even affair, although the Robins had the better chances overall.

Premier Division Central leaders Tamworth were beaten 2-1 at Bulpit Lane by National League South side Hungerford Town.

The Crusaders put aside their league form – they are currently bottom of the table – to see off Andy Peaks` much-fancied outfit.

The hosts took an early 8th-minute lead when Christie Ward was the first to react after Matt Berry-Hargreaves` effort had come back off a post.

But the Lambs pulled back on level terms in first-half injury-time when they were awarded a penalty after a clumsy challenge in the box.

Dan Creaney duly converted the resulting spot-kick.

Just 3 minutes after the restart, Hungerford were back in front with a fine finish by Ryan Jones.

Tamworth upped the pressure as the second half wore on, but the home defence stood firm and it’s Hungerford who go into the hat for the next round.

Tamworth’s league rivals Leiston saw their run come to an end at National League Aldershot Town.

A crowd of 804 saw the Shots run out 4-1 winners.

The hosts broke the deadlock 6 minutes before half-time when Harrison Panayiotou scored from close range after Leiston failed to deal with a cross.

Five minutes into the second half, Aldershot doubled their advantage when Ryan Glover slotted home a cross from the left.

The Suffolk visitors never gave up though and were back in the tie with 20 minutes remaining when Will Davies was denied by home `keeper Luca Ashby-Hammond but Finlay Barnes followed up to net from an acute angle.

But any hopes of a comeback were dashed just 2 minutes later when Ihih Effiong headed home to restore the home side’s two-goal lead.

And in the 81st minute, Effiong got behind the away defence to dispatch the ball past Sam Donkin to net his second and the Shots` fourth goal.
