Highly-Rated Defender Switches to Lambs

Pitching In Southern League Premier Division Central leaders Tamworth have snapped up highly-rated defender Jamie Willetts from league rivals Alvechurch.

The 30-year-old had joined Stourbridge in November 2019 from rivals Alvechurch and then made the reverse journey in March 2020.

He had originally signed for `Church in October 2016 from Hereford FC.

The 6`3” centre-back signed for the Bulls from Stourport Swifts at the start of the 2015/16 season and helped them to win the Midland League title, as well as clinching two other trophies and reaching the FA Vase Final at Wembley.

Manager Andy Peaks told https://www.tamworthfc.co.uk: “He is a great leader and highly respected in this league.

“It is important that we are as strong as possible as we head into the final 14 games. With injuries in this area, we need players which will add competition. “Jamie brings a wealth of experience, and he ticks a lot of boxes.

"We have played with a consistent squad for the whole season so far, but now is a good time to freshen it up a little to hopefully get us over the line”.
