Playing on a Sabbath due to ground tenants Cheshunt having use of the stadium for their Vanarama National League South game against Hemel Hempstead Town yesterday, the first half showed signs that the Wolves, fielding virtually a completely new team from a couple of weeks ago, were improving and the opening 45 minutes finished goalless with the Walnut Boys just about shading it.
But the deadlock was broken 3 minutes into the second half as Kempston took the lead.
Ben Stevens` assist for James Hatch to head into the bottom corner past debutant goalkeeper Drilon Ajeri, who did his best to keep the score down with some fine saves.
And the visitors doubled their advantage just past the hour-mark when, following a scramble in the area, Lee Cooksey headed across goal for Emmanuel Dahie who struck the bar, but the rebound falls kindly for Cooksey to head over the line.
The win lifted Kempston up to 11th in the table on 32 points – 7 adrift of the top five places, while for FC Romania, that’s now eight straight defeats.
