In front of a good crowd of 646 at Privett Park and against a Gosport side who went into the game on the back of a three-game unbeaten run under Mark Molesley, the Seagulls took a 20th-minute lead when, after good work from Elis Watts, Marlon Jackson managed to hold off a Boro defender before firing home past Pat O’Flaherty in the home goal.
Then on 36 minutes, Dayle Grubb produced a stunning drive from 25 yards that flew past O’Flaherty to make it 2-0.
Five minutes before half-time, Weston took complete control of the game when they added a third – Scott Laird heading in a corner.
And it could have been worse for the hosts as O’Flaherty saved them from going 4-0 down before the break with a terrific save from a Grubb free kick.
Scott Bartlett’s side did grab a fourth goal just before the hour-mark when Laird’s effort was parried by O’Flaherty, but the ball went straight to Jackson, who slotted home.
To their credit, Gosport never stopped trying to get back into the game but came up against a visiting side in fine form.
The result puts Weston back on top, two points in front of Truro with a game in hand, whilst Gosport remain in 15th place on 30 points – exactly half of the Seagulls` tally.
