Rendell Brings In Four New Bluebells

John Rendell, manager of Pitching In Southern League Premier Division South club Yate Town, has brought in four additions to his squad ahead of the weekend’s match.

Left-footed centre-back Mike Baker has re-joined the Bluebells from Southern Division One South side Frome Town.

The 29-year-old transferred to Frome in January 2022 from league rivals Larkhall Athletic, having joined the Larks from Yate in 2017/18.

A schoolboy at Bristol Rovers, his other previous clubs include Mangotsfield United and Odd Down.

Joining on a month’s loan from Vanarama National League South side Bath City is forward Rex Mannings.

The 23-year-old signed for Bath in June 2022 from Southern Division One South side Frome Town.

He had joined Frome from Bristol Manor Farm in October 2018, having signed for Manor Farm after leaving League One Oxford United at the end of the previous season.

Callum Wood has returned on loan to Yate from Championship side Bristol City for a second time.

The 20-year-old centre-half spent time on loan at Yate back in November 2022.

Wood impressed tremendously in his loan spell at National League South side Bath City last season, earning many admirers and also claiming player of the month in December 2021.

He signed for City's under-18s after a successful trial period in 2020, where he was playing for Southern Division One South outfit Cinderford Town at the time.

Wood is joined at Yate by Bristol City team-mate Tommy Backwell.

The 19-year-old plays in midfield and recently signed a professional deal with City until 2024.

He impressed in a friendly against the Bluebells in the summer and also had a loan spell with Bath during the first part of the season.
