Pitching In Southern League Premier Division South play-off chasers Chesham United brought in two players ahead of the weekend’s action.

Dante Baptiste

Dante Baptiste

Former Watford goalkeeper Dante Baptiste has moved to The Meadow on loan from Vanarama National League side Wealdstone until the end of the season and made his debut last week away at Poole Town in the 3-3 draw.

A product of the Norwich City academy, Baptiste joined Championship side Watford in the summer of 2018 and played a starring role in the Hornets’ under-18 side that reached the semi-final of the FA Youth Cup in 2019.

He saved four penalties in a shoot-out win for Hendon on loan in November in 2020 and earned rave reviews for his performances on loan last season at Farnborough, who he helped to promotion.

Meanwhile, Matt Ridley has returned to The Meadow on loan from League Two side Sutton United.

Ridley made 11 appearances at centre-back earlier this season, and is now back with the Generals until the end of the season.

The tall 22-year-old signed his first professional contract with Sutton in the summer.

A native of the north east of England, he played for several clubs in the area before a spell playing university football in the USA, and on returning last season he joined Northern Premier League Premier Division side Whitby Town, also signing for then-Northern Leaguers Consett on a dual registration basis, before joining Sutton over the summer.
