Experienced Keeper Re-Joins Dorchester

Dorchester Town have re-signed goalkeeper Lloyd Thomas from Pitching In Southern League Premier Division South rivals Poole Town.

The 26-year-old spent time on loan to the Magpies earlier this season after Vanarama National League side Aldershot Town re-called Ryan Hall from his loan stint at The Avenue Stadium.

Thomas joined Poole in early November 2022 from Southern Division One South neighbours Wimborne Town.

He had moved to the Magpies in late September 2022 from league rivals AFC Totton.

He had joined the Stags in May 2022 from Isthmian League Premier Division side Carshalton Athletic.

An experienced keeper, having been the number one at several clubs in the Wessex League and at Step 3 level, he started off as AFC Portchester’s first-choice keeper as an 18-year-old, remaining with the Royals for 18 months and winning the Wessex League Cup in 2014/15, before moving on to Blackfield & Langley.

Two seasons with Andover Town followed, before the 6’4” shot-stopper moved to Horndean.

He then joined Weymouth, with whom he won the Southern Premier Division in 2018/19, although predominantly as the back-up keeper.

After two seasons of non-League football were disrupted by the COVID pandemic, he signed for Carshalton and made 50 appearances for the Robins in all competitions in 2021/22.

But living in Portchester, he found the travelling to be too much and welcomed the opportunity to move to a club closer to home.
