Trio Join North Leigh's Relegation Battle

North Leigh’s battle to avoid relegation from the Pitching In Southern League Premier Division South has received a boost with two new signings and one of their loan players agreeing to spent the remainder of the season at Eynsham Park.

Joining the Millers on a permanent basis from league rivals Swindon Supermarine is centre-back Leon Morrison.

The 22-year-old signed for `Marine in June 2022 from Southern Division One South neighbours Highworth Town.

He progressed from Worthians youth team to make almost 100 senior appearances, debuting at the age of 17.

He has moved to North Leigh in search of more regular first team football.

Returning to Eynsham Park for a third time is striker Conor McDonagh, who has also joined from Swindon Supermarine but only on loan.

The 30-year-old joined `Marine in June 2018 having played for Kidlington and Banbury United the previous season.

He is an experienced striker who started his career as a scholar with Oxford United before joining Oxford City in the summer of 2011, playing primarily for the Oxford City Nomads side in the Hellenic League.

He then went on to sign for Witney Town at the start of the 2012/13 season before joining North Leigh four months later in December 2012, scoring 28 goals.

He then moved away from Oxfordshire and spent the 2014/15 season with Northern Premier League side Ossett Albion, although he also played some games for Thame United that season.

On his return to Oxfordshire he joined Didcot Town at the start of the 2015/16 season but moved up two levels to re-join Vanarama National League South side Oxford City in September 2015 before signing for Banbury United exactly a year later in September 2016 and subsequently joining Kidlington in February 2018.

In 2021/22, McDonagh returned to North Leigh on loan and was in prolific form, netting 10 goals in just 7 games for the Millers.

Staying at Eynsham Park for the remainder of the season is midfielder Twariq Yusuf.

The 22-year-old joined the Millers on loan from National League North side Brackley Town last month.

He had signed for Brackley in August 2021 and has made 38 appearances, scoring 3 goals.

The Tanzanian was originally a member of the GPS Oxford Football Academy.

He played in the Uhlsport Hellenic League for Ardley United before signing for Southern Division One Central club Kidlington in early October 2020.

After impressing in the close season of 2021, he was signed by Brackley.
