Another terrific crowd of 1,066 saw Scott Rendell out the Stags ahead from the penalty spot after half-an-hour.

Ethan Taylor doubled the advantage 4 minutes later, but it was the second half that the title-chasers went to town.

Taylor went on to complete his hat-trick in the 52nd and 61st minutes.

Rendell followed him by adding goals in the 66th and 86th minutes, with Charlie Davis completing the rout a minute from time.

Jimmy Ball’s side are now top on goal difference from long-standing table-toppers Sholing.

Bashley’s play-off hopes took a knock as they were held to a 1-1 draw at bottom side Slimbridge, who led through Ethan Dunbar’s 12th minute opener until 3 minutes into the second half when Jack Lovell rescued a point for the Villagers, who are sixth, two points behind Tavistock AFC.

Lymington Town’s good recent run came to an end as they suffered a 2-0 home defeat to a Bideford AFC side who are now just a point behind their hosts, who are back in the relegation mix.

Lewis Brooks after 34 minutes and then Ben Gerring on 73 minutes sealed the Devonians` win.

Third-bottom Bristol Manor Farm are 6 points from the safety mark after sharing a 0-0 draw with Frome Town at Badgers Hill.
