Another Defeat for FC Romania

With both of the scheduled matches in the Pitching In Southern League Division One South falling foul of the wet weather, the only other match to take place was in Division One Central where bottom side FC Romania welcomes Cirencester Town to Theobalds Lane.

John Brough’s side were expected to be up amongst the challengers for a top five spot after being switched from the southern section by the FA last summer.

However, they will fall just short, mainly due to their away results.

They managed to win 2-1 against an FC Romania side who, at best, can only feature in the relegation play-offs.

The best the Centurians can achieve is sixth if they win their two remaining games and moved up to seventh in the table as a result of this win.

Cirencester almost took an early 8th minute lead but Adulai Sambu was denied by a fine save from the Wolves` keeper Charlie Taylor.

At the other end, Alex Harris tipped an Enock Ekongo effort over the bar and then, a minute before the break, the visitors made it 2-0 when Nick Hancock benefitted from some poor defending to beat Taylor from 8 yards out.

Conditions worsened in the second half and the hosts got themselves back into the game on 73 minutes with a great striker from skipper Ernold Haxhiu from just outside the box.

Taylor made three saves in succession to keep FC Romania in the contest, but, in the end, Cirencester held firm for three points.
