Remarkable Goal Puts Evesham in the Top Five

Evesham United moved into the top five in the Pitching In Southern League Division One South on Wednesday evening after a remarkable 1-0 win at Willand Rovers at the Stan Robinson Stadium

Mike Ford’s Robins travelled away for the fourth successive game and for the third time in five days.

And, having beaten Bideford AFC and Bristol Manor Farm they made it a hat-trick when they won 1-0 against a Rovers side who are still not sure of safety – that going to the final day of the season on Saturday.

And so will the final play-off spot, thanks to a remarkable goal from Kyle Belmonte, whose shot from just inside his own half in the 72nd minute eventually proved decisive.

It’s now down to the last day as to who claims the last play-off place, with Evesham now 2 points in front of Bashley and Tavistock AFC, with Frome Town a further point adrift.
