Tamworth Victory Means It's All To Play For on Saturday

It’s a straight final day shoot-out between Tamworth and Coalville Town for the Pitching In Southern League Premier Division Central title after the Lambs beat fourth-placed Nuneaton Borough on Thursday night.

Unfortunately for Tamworth supporters, this game was played `behind closed doors` following incidents at the original game which was abandoned in February.

The Lambs took a 13th minute lead when Jamie Willetts headed powerfully past Tony Breeden in the Boro goal.

And they doubled that advantage on the half-hour mark when Dan Creaney blasted a shot past Breeden.

Just 4 minutes into the second half, the hosts scored a third when top scorer Creaney made it 40 goals in all competitions for the Lambs with another powerful effort which gave the Boro keeper no chance.

Tamworth managed the rest of the game fairly comfortably and ended the night in top spot, with an identical playing record to, but a goal difference of two better than, Coalville in second place ahead of their trip to Redditch United on Saturday, while the Ravens host Stourbridge.

Rushall Olympic secured the final play-off place after a 3-1 win at Hayden Road against already-relegated AFC Rushden & Diamonds.

It was a dangerous-looking game for the Pics ahead of kick-off as Diamonds hadn’t lost in their last seven matches after having relegation confirmed.

However, the Pics opened the scoring after 19 minutes when Alex Fletcher curled a neat effort past Dean Snedker in the Diamonds goal.

Snedker was kept busy by the visitors in the first half and, after making a decent save from Fletcher, the ball fell to Alex Cameron to fie home the second goal on the half-hour mark.

Diamonds got a foothold in the game 2 minutes before the break when a corner was headed home by Charlie Pattinson.

But just shy of the hour-mark, Rushall went 3-1 ahead with a Sam Whittall header from a corner.

Liam McDonald’s side held firm for the rest of the game and enjoyed a crucial win.

Alvechurch ended a run of three successive defeats with a 2-1 Lye Meadow victory over Royston Town.

Danny Waldron bagged a brace for Ian Long’s side in the 28th and 48th minutes, with a Tom Newman penalty 8 minutes from time all that the Crows could muster in response.

Already-relegated Hednesford Town moved up to third-from-bottom spot after making it back-to-back home wins at the Race Stadium against Needham Market.

Jordan Graham scored twice for the Pitmen on 23 and 40 minutes before Todd Parker made it 3-0 right on the stroke of half-time.

Ethan Patterson scored the only goal of the second half on the hour-mark.
