Surrey Senior Cup Win for Met Police

Pitching In Southern League Premier Division South club Metropolitan Police won the Surrey Senior Cup on Wednesday evening.

Gavin Macpherson’s side beat Combined Counties League Premier Division North side Virginia Water 4-1 at Dorking Wanderers` Meadowbank Stadium.

The kick-off was delayed by 25 minutes due to traffic which held up players from both sides.

And the Met had to come back from being a 20th minute Seb D’Aversa goal down to win.

However, 8 minutes later, skipper Luke Robertson equalised from the edge of the box.

The Met took a 35th minute lead when Ollie Knight’s cross was finished off at the far post by Connor Lee.

So, 2-1 to the Met at the break, but seconds after the restart, it was 3-1 when Knight’s free-kick nestled into the back of the Virginia Water net.

And on 73 minutes, it was 4-1 when Herson Alves fired a 20-yard effort past Virginia Water `keeper Matt Jones.
