Quartet Commit to Poppies for Southern League Return

Lee Glover, manager of Kettering Town, relegated back to the Pitching In Southern League Premier Division Central from the Vanarama National League North, is in the process of developing his squad for 2023/24 with the four players agreeing terms with the Poppies.

Gary Stohrer, Sam Bennett, Lewis White and George Forsyth have all agreed to remain at Latimer Park.

The experienced Stohrer, 30, joined Kettering in July 2017 from Frickley Athletic.

A right-back born in Northampton, he has also played for Irchester United, Long Buckby, Garforth Town, Ossett Town and Shaw Lane AFC.

He helped the Poppies to win the Southern Premier Central title in 2018/19.

Bennett is a forward who signed for the Poppies in August 2022 from United Counties League Premier Division North side Wisbech Town.

The 22-year-old had joined the Fenmen in late November 2021 from then-Northern Premier Division One Midlands rivals Soham Town Rangers.

He had been with Soham since July 2021 after arriving from another league rival, Yaxley.

He had made the permanent move to the Cuckoos in July 2020 following his release by Cambridge United.

He failed to make the senior side at the Abbey Stadium but has experience in non-League football when, in January 2019, he joined then-Isthmian League North side Mildenhall Town on `work experience`.

He was leading scorer for Cambridge`s under-18 side at the time, with his double-figure tally including two hat-tricks.

In November 2019, Bennett joined Yaxley on loan having just completed a similar spell with league rivals St Neots Town, where he made 14 appearances and scored 2 goals.

He played 18 times for the Cuckoos and scored an impressive 5 times.

Leicester-born centre-back White joined Kettering in June 2022.

The 22-year-old signed a scholarship with Coventry City following an impressive youth career with Oadby Owls.

A serious knee injury hampered his time at Coventry, and following his release, he was snapped up by then-United Counties League side Shepshed Dynamo.

He moved to Northern Premier Division One Midlands side Corby Town in October 2020.

Midfielder Forsyth, 26, signed for the Poppies in February 2023 from Southern Premier Division Central side Bromsgrove Sporting after a successful loan spell.

He had joined the Rouslers in June 2022 from league rivals Stourbridge, where he had returned to in February 2022 from National League North side Hereford.

He had joined the Bulls just before Christmas 2020 from then-Southern Division One Central side Halesowen Town, having signed for the Yeltz in May 2019 from Stourbridge.

He can play at both centre-half and central midfield and began his career with Wolverhampton Wanderers and following a spell as a schoolboy at Shrewsbury Town joined Kidderminster Harriers.

Following a successful spell with the youth team, he signed a contract with Harriers and spent time out on loan to several clubs including a 16-game spell with the Yeltz in the 2015/16 season.

He signed for Gloucester City in 2017 and followed this up with a successful loan and then permanent move to Worcester City before signing for Stourbridge in early 2019.
