Ebanks Returns to Stratford on a More Permanent Basis

Pitching In Southern League Premier Division Central club Stratford Town have signed forward Callum Ebanks following his release from League One side Cheltenham Town.

The 20-year-old spent from January 2023 until the end of the 20222/23 season on loan with the Bards.

He has plenty of other Southern League experience through loan stints with Evesham United and Bromsgrove Sporting, as well as spells with Vanarama National League South side Bath City and National League outfit Eastleigh whilst on Cheltenham’s books.

Stratford manager Gav Hurren told his club’s website: “Callum was released by Cheltenham Town and not surprisingly had a lot of interest but the relationship that Callum and I have built over the last few years are how he came to this football club has been key because he’s valued by the players, management team. The fans and I think everyone at the club will be delighted we’ve got Callum over the line.”

Stratford were also boosted by the retention of vastly experienced defender Paul McCone, who has been rewarded with the captaincy following the departure of Will Grocott.

Hurren added: “I’ve spoken with Paul it was key he stayed. He settled so well last year and when are backs were against the wall he kept leading correctly, he’s someone I have a lot of respect for. Paul is going to be the captain, he’s going to lead this team like he has been, he doesn’t really need an arm band and he's going to represent this football club out on that field every week”.
