Plethora of New Signings at Hungerford

Pitching In Southern League Premier Division South newcomers Hungerford Town have been busy again.

Central Midfielder Brad Hooper has joined the Crusaders from new league rivals Swindon Supermarine.

Hooper, who turns 29 on Tuesday, made over 200 appearances for `Marine, scoring more than 40 times after joining in the summer of 2016.

He spent the previous seasons with neighbours Cirencester Town where he made over 100 appearances for the Centurions having started in their academy sides.

He is a precocious talent, skilful on the ball with an eye for a pass as he likes to keep the ball on the floor.

Attacking midfielder Karnell Chambers has also joined Hungerford’s bid for a rapid return to Step 2 football.

The 25-year-old started his career with Cheltenham Town and signed for Gloucester City in 2016/17 amidst interest from Scottish side Ross County, before impressing on loan at Cinderford Town.

After a spell in Sweden, he returned to the Tigers and made a real impact before signing a contract with the club for the new season.

He joined Southern Premier Division Central side Stratford Town in March 2020 and then Southern Premier Division South outfit Yate Town in June 2021 before moving to Southern Division One South side Evesham United towards the end of August 2021.

He re-joined Stratford in November 2021 and then returned to Cinderford in December 2021 before moving again, this time to Southern Premier Division South side Merthyr Town in January 2022.

He returned to Evesham in October 2022 and then re-joined Stratford in early January 2023.

Skilful box-to-box midfielder Nathan Davis has also checked into Bulpit Lane.

The 25-year-old arrives from Uhlsport Hellenic League Premier Division side Corsham Town.

He had joined Corsham in September 2022 after spending four months travelling the world.

Before that he signed for Southern Division One South side Frome Town in August 2020.

He graduated from Loughborough University with a sports coaching degree and he played football and futsal whilst at the renowned sporting complex.

He is a full senior England Futsal international, making his debut in Thailand at the end of 2018.

He played for Calne Town in the Toolstation Western League First Division in 2019/20 and helped them to the top of the league and on course for promotion prior to the season ending prematurely due to COVID-19.

Joe Shepherd also joins Hungerford from Southern Division One Central side Cirencester Town.

An energetic midfielder, Crusaders boss Danny Robinson was excited to get him into the squad.

The 29-year-old returned to the Centurians in October 2020.

He is a box-to-box midfielder who can also play in defence and made 22 appearances in Ciren`s Southern Division One South & West championship-winning side in 2013/14, scoring 4 goals along the way.

He transferred to Southern Premier South outfit Swindon Supermarine in the summer of 2014.

Powerful centre-back Luke Carnell will also be a Crusader in the 2023/24 season.

The 31-year-old moves to Bulpit Lane from Southern Division One Central side Thame United.

He had joined the Red Kites in November 2022 from North Leigh.

He had moved to the Millers in July 2020 from then-Southern Division One Central rivals Didcot Town, where he had been since the summer of 2019 following two seasons away with Banbury United.

He has also been with Woodford United and Abingdon United.

Defender Jack Alexander joins Hungerford from North Leigh, who were relegated from the Southern Premier Division South at the end of last season.

The 26-year-old was previously with manager Danny Robinson at Thatcham Town.

Alexander had moved to North Leigh in July 2022 from Hellenic League side Wantage Town.

He had joined the Freds, then in the Southern Division One Central, in July 2020 from Thatcham, who he joined in November 2018 from Swindon Supermarine, where he had been since 2016.

As a youngster he won 11 Scotland Youth international caps and played for Liverpool and Bristol City at under-18 level.

He then joined Eastleigh where he enjoyed loan spells with AFC Totton and Dorchester Town and has also made a handful of appearances for Halesowen Town, then in the Northern Premier.

Attacker Sean Moore also joins Hungerford for the 2023/24 season.

The 28-year-old, who can play in a variety of positions, is another exciting addition to Danny Robinson’s squad.

A strong, aggressive player with a good touch, he spent several seasons with Henley Town before signing for Isthmian South Central side Binfield in 2020.

He was made club captain and led the team to the FA Vase Final in 2021.

Previously with Bracknell Town, he signed for Hungerford’s new league rivals Hanwell Town in November 2022.
