Lacey Coup for Waders

Danny Payne, manager of Pitching In Southern League Division One Central club Biggleswade Town has pulled off something of a coup in bringing JJ Lacey to the Yvette Brewer Stadium for 2023/24.

The 24-year-old was arguably one of the best players in the division last season as Berkhamsted won the title under Chris Devane with over 30 goals and 20 assists.

Now he has followed Devane to the Waders.

Lacey originally joined Berkhamsted in 2018 and scored 18 goals in 28 games.

He was previously with Leverstock Green where he notched 66 goals in 94 games and was selected for an England FA XI ambassadorial visit to the Falkland Islands in November 2018.

He dual registered with Vanarama National League South side Hemel Hempstead Town in 2019/20 and then signed a more permanent deal with the Tudors in June 2020.

He returned to Berkhamsted in January 2022.

Also joining the Waders is full back Callum Wilson.

Wilson was captain of Potton United in the Spartan South Midlands League Premier Division last season and made 40 appearances, scoring 2 goals.

Wilson spent four years working with Jimmy Martin, now part of the Waders` management team.

Wilson will bring along the tactical understanding of how Biggleswade want to play, athleticism and is more than ready for the step up.
