Three More Join New-Look Hungerford

Hungerford Town have added three more new players to their squad ahead of their return to the Pitching In Southern League Premier Division South.

Jack Stanley

Jack Stanley

Versatile defender Jack Stanley joins the Crusaders from Yate Town, who were relegated to the Southern Division One South at the end of last season.

The 24-year-old had joined the Bluebells in August 2022 from Swindon Supermarine.

He had moved to `Marine in July 2020 from Isthmian South Central side Thatcham Town, where he had been since October 2018 after arriving from Southern Premier South side Salisbury.

He can play as a full-back or in midfield and was originally on the books at Swindon Town.

He spent the best part of the 2021/22 season at Hartpury University.

Following Stanley from Yate is 29-year-old left-footed centre-back Mike Baker.

He re-joined Yate in February 2023 from Southern Division One South side Frome Town.

He transferred to Frome in January 2022 from league rivals Larkhall Athletic, having joined the Larks from Yate in 2017/18.

A schoolboy at Bristol Rovers, his other previous clubs include Mangotsfield United and Odd Down.

Also putting pen-to-paper for Hungerford is talented young goalkeeper James Walker.

The 18-year-old joins from the Crusaders` former Vanarama National League South rivals Chippenham Town.

A young, talented keeper, he started out with Championship side Bristol City, who sent him on loan to Isthmian Leaguers Guernsey in October 2021.

Last season he spent time on loan with Highworth Town, making 29 appearances.

Walker will work closely with Hungerford’s vastly experienced keeper Ryan Clarke this season.
