The good news was the signing of winger Ross Crane from league rivals Needham Market.

The 20-year-old he had been with the Marketmen since August 2022 after joining from Ipswich Town.

He had signed for the Trawler Boys in July 2020 from Isthmian North side Bury Town, where he had been since August 2019 and made his first team debut as a substitute in a 2-0 win over Gillingham in an EFL Trophy group stage tie in October that year.

He joined from league rivals AFC Sudbury after being part of the Yellows academy set up and playing for the first team in the final 14 games of the 2018/19 season.

He was previously with Colchester United’s academy before joining Sudbury.

The bad news for Leiston fans is that striker Ben Fowkes has left Victory Road to join Vanarama National League North side Peterborough Sports.

During his time at Leiston, the 24-year-old netted 20 goals from 42 appearances, that included 36 starts.
