The 39-year-old made over 200 appearances for Vanarama National League side Eastleigh in two spells at the club.
He first featured between 2012 and 2016, then re-joined the Spitfires in 2017 from Bromley.
Beginning his youth football career at Arsenal and then with Fulham, Flitney was understudy to Edwin Van der Sar in the Premier League from 2003 to 2005.
Flitney combined his position with being goalkeeper coach for the first-team and academy goalkeepers at Eastleigh.
Wimborne manager Tim Sills told his club’s website: “Securing Ross’ signing in goal is a massive coup for a club at our level and his experience, leadership and undoubted ability will be huge in the changing room this season. He has great pedigree as well as determined ambition to be successful this year and his example will be invaluable for our younger keepers to learn and grow from as well. Welcome Flits!”
