The 20-year-old came through League One Cambridge United’s academy.
He was part of the United under-18 side who reached the Fifth Round of the FA Youth Cup in 2021/22, bowing out against Nottingham Forest.
He also spent time on loan with then-Isthmian North side Dereham Town in February 2022 and then had the 2022/23 campaign on a season’s loan to Northern Premier League Division One Midlands side St Neots Town, making 27 appearances.
AFC Sudbury manager Marc Abbott told his club’s website: "Joe is a very consistent performer having been at Cambridge United since a very young age.
“He had an impressive pre-season with their first team last year, playing in a number of fixtures against Championship opposition.
“Joe can play as a full back or central midfielder and he has the capabilities to perform to a high level in either position.
“He spent last season at St Neots Town, gaining valuable experience which will stand him in good stead for the Step 3 challenge ahead".
