Experienced Defender Joins Bucks

Pitching In Southern League Premier Division Central club AFC Telford United have signed defender Fraser Kerr.

Hartlepool United paid an undisclosed fee to Gateshead to bring the big 30-year-old centre-back to The Super 6 Stadium in February 2019.

He had come through the ranks at Birmingham City before securing a switch to Motherwell in 2013 at the end of a successful loan stint at Fir Park.

After making 50 appearances for Motherwell, he moved on for spells at Cowdenbeath and Stenhousemuir before earning a move back to English football with Gateshead in the summer of 2018.

He made 28 appearances for Pools, before he moved to league rivals Torquay United in the summer of 2020 and then to Chesterfield in March 2021.

In the summer of 2022 he signed for York City.

Standing 6` 2” tall, he has representative honours for Scotland at under-16, 17, 19 and under-21 levels.

Bucks boss Kevin Wilkin told his club’s website: “Fraser is a presence; he’s a big strong boy who has played at a good level, and hopefully he can share some of that experience with certain other players in the team and in the group.

“There were things that I’ve thought have been evident for a little while. I know we had the easier games starting off, but the last three games have been tough. We want tough games, but there was clear evidence on Tuesday night at Tamworth that we needed to find extra in certain areas and hopefully Fraser will be part of that.

“Fraser ideally would be still be in full-time football and playing to that level; hopefully we can provide a bit of a springboard for him and he can move us forward from the position we find ourselves in, so that both the club and Fraser grow together”.
