Two Brought in Ahead of AFC Sudbury's Debut

Ahead of Saturday’s 1-1 draw at home to Barwell, Pitching In Southern League Premier Division Central newcomers AFC Sudbury brought in two new signings.

Defender Reiss Oteng moves to the MEL Group Stadium from Division One Central side Biggleswade FC.

The soon-to-be 26-year-old had joined the Greens in February 2022 from Thurlow Nunn League Premier Division side Haverhill Rovers.

He had been a regular for Rovers since joining in February 2020 from Kershaw League Premier Division outfit West Wratting.

He was previously with another Kershaw League side, Linton Granta.

AFC Sudbury boss Marc Abbott told his club’s website: "Reiss was previously part of a very successful Biggleswade team that hit the play-off's last season.

“A left back or left centre-back who will get better with games, he's a tall powerful defender looking to get the best out of himself and determined to make himself a key asset to the team.

"Although Reiss is defensively sound, he also has the race and power to get himself up the pitch to deliver some real quality into the box and we are really pleased to have secured him in time for the upcoming season."

Powerful midfielder Olumide Oluwatimilehin will add experience to AFC Sudbury’s relatively young squad.

He moves from Isthmian League South East side Haywards Heath Town.

He had moved to Heath in late August 2022 from Ashford United, where he had only been for a month after arriving from Maldon & Tiptree.

He had joined the Jammers in December 2021 from Barking, where he had been since July 2021 after arriving from Vanarama National League South side Braintree Town, where he had been since the summer of 2020.

He had signed for Wingate & Finchley in August 2019 and then moved to rivals Haringey Borough in February 2020.

Previously with Aveley, Whyteleafe, Barking, Lewes, Whitehawk and Hoddesdon Town, he was part of the Merstham side who reached the play-offs. He is a strong box-to-box midfielder.

Abbott added: "Olu will be a brilliant addition to the group, having gained experience of the level we are now playing in and beyond, he will help develop the youngsters around him.

“Olu is an athletic, powerful and technically gifted midfielder with the capabilities that we want to see in a player on the ball. He has learnt his trade playing for the likes of Braintree, Hornchurch, Lewes and Kingstonian".
