Perfect start for Willand Rovers

Three wins from three, eight goals scored and none conceded, it doesn’t get much better for Willand Rovers at the top of the Pitching In Southern League Division One South table.

Their latest triumph saw Bishops Cleeve swept aside 4-0 with two goals from Charlie Wright and further strikes from Josh Webber and Kieran Bailey.

A cluster of clubs follow behind on seven points. Mousehole have adapted well to the demands of the higher level and they shared the spoils with Bashley for whom Adam Grange hit a late goal in a 2-2 draw, whilst Wimborne Town had two goals within the opening 20 minutes to thank for their 2-0 victory over Malvern Town, who suffered their first League defeat of the season (pictured).

Bemerton Heath Harlequins were held to a goalless draw by Paulton Rovers, who in doing so got their first point of the season, and Melksham Town had second half strikes from Ben Brooks and Dion Molyneux to thank for their 2-0 victory over Exmouth Town.

At the bottom it’s still no points for Tavistock and Yate Town. Tavistock were well beaten 3-0 at Larkhall Athletic, where Tom Bradley, Thierry Swaby and Archie Ferris got their names on the scoresheet. Meanwhile Yate lost to a goal in first half stoppage time from Jonathan Davies of Frome Town.

It’s been a tough week for Westbury United, but they ended it on a high following a commanding 3-0 triumph at Bideford. Callum Demkiv scored twice and Ryan Bole bagged the other.

The other game saw Evesham United and Hamworthy United play out a 1-1 draw in what was an evenly-matched contest.

Friday night’s action saw Cribbs play out a 1-0 victory over neighbours Bristol Manor Farm in front of a record crowd of 573.
