Dream Draw For Sills

Wimborne Town land home Emirates FA Cup tie with former Football League outfit

The romance of the Emirates FA Cup is alive and kicking after Pitching In Southern League Division South outfit, Wimborne Town, were drawn at home to Torquay United in the second round qualifying.

The Magpies, who are unbeaten in their four League games so far this season with three wins and a draw, are managed by Tim Sills who became a Torquay legend when he scored in the 2009 National League play-off final against Cambridge United to take the club back into The Football League.

Sills made over 100 appearances for the Gulls during which time he became the first player in over four decades to score over 20 goals in successive seasons.

“This is the dream draw,” beamed the 43 year-old who has been at the Wimborne helm since October 2022. “I can’t wait to see many friendly, familiar faces and reminisce about Wembley, of course!

“More importantly, it will be a great day for the club and I couldn’t be more proud to lead the team into such a big game.

“This is what the magic of the FA Cup is all about.”

A late goal from Harry Baker gave them a 1-0 victory at Tiverton Town in the previous round.
