Goals In Mind For Payne

Biggleswade Town amongst the goals

Goals have been the name of the game for Pitching In Southern League Division One Central outfit, Biggleswade Town. since Danny Payne stepped up from assistant to take over at the helm during the summer.

The Waders have scored 18 from their five games in all competitions so far, including an impressive ten in their two Emirates FA Cup ties so far following Saturday’s 5-1 triumph over New Salamis.

“Over the summer we’ve tried to recruit players throughout the team who are proven goalscorers at this level,” Payne told The Non-League Show. “Last season we were reliant on one or two players to get the goals, but already this season they’ve been shared around.

“It allows us to play the type of football we want where the players are able to go out and just express themselves.

“At this level, mistakes will happen defensively; we’re not going to grind out 1-0s, so we want to be able to entertain and make it an enjoyable environment for the players to be in.

“We know that we’re always going to score goals and we’re in a good place at the moment, playing with plenty of confidence.

“Saturday’s performance was our best of the season and hopefully we can use it as a platform and build on it with some momentum.”

Next up is an Isuzu FA Trophy home tie against Bury Town.
