Edge Takes Inspiration

Previous experiences helping Swindon Supermarine cause

Having worked under the guidance of the legendary Arsene Wenger as a highly-rated youngster at Arsenal, Jamie Edge has used some of that experience to help him after being put in temporary charge of Swindon Supermarine alongside Rhys Evans following the departure of Lee Spalding.

The duo have overseen a narrow 2-1 loss at Dorchester Town and a dramatic 3-3 draw with Beaconsfield Town since taking over at the helm whilst a new permanent manager is sought by the Pitching In Southern League Premier South strugglers.

“It’s been a new experience for me, but one that I have really enjoyed,” admitted Edge, who joined the club in November 2018. “I’ve been around football a long time and played under a wide range of different managers and also been in situations like this before where caretaker-managers have come in during the season.

“I’ve tried to use all of those experiences, good and bad, to help and it’s just confirmed that management is something that I want to get in to in the future.

“It’s been tough because of the position that we find ourselves in but the group here is very much together and fighting hard for each other.

“They have bought in to what Rhys and I have asked them to do and we put in a really good performance last weekend and in the second half of Tuesday’s game.

“We’ve gone through a lot together and we’re all ready for the fight. We’re excited for a new manager to come in and guide us in the right direction.”
