AFC SUDBURY | EMBRACING THE CHALLENGE

The Suds getting used to life at higher level

The latest team to attempt to stop Mickleover’s march at the top of the Pitching In Southern League Premier Central table will be AFC Sudbury who make the trip to the Don Arnott Arena on Saturday.

Since coming up from the Isthmian League Division One North at the end of last season via the play-offs, the Suffolk club have drawn half of their League games, whilst they exited the Emirates FA Cup on Saturday with a 3-0 defeat at League rivals, Hitchin Town.

“We’ve showed some good levels in our performances in recent weeks and we did so in spells on Saturday too,” said manager, Marc Abbott. “But in the key moments, our opponents were more ruthless than us and they deserved their win in the end.

“The biggest disappointment was the manner and timing of the goals, which is something we’re working hard on.

“We’ve moved up into what is a tough and competitive League and it’s about managing the squad for each new challenge that we will come up against.

“There have been some good performers so far, the likes of Tom Dickens and Charlie Lewis have done well and adapted to this level.”
