Connor Knight is cooking up a storm at Wimborne Town, but it’s not on the pitch where he is making his mark for the Pitching In Southern League Division One South high-flyers.
Taking over as Head Chef last month, he is ensuring that the club’s policy of sourcing and using only locally-produced ingredients is maintained both within the hospitality areas and also around the ground.
“It is so important for us as a club that all of our produce is locally sourced,” he said. “We take all of our meat, burgers and hot dogs from a butcher just down the road and all of the vegetables come from the local market, collected by Chairman, Tony Grant, each week!
“You can’t beat good, traditional home cooked food and that is what I am trying to bring here. I’ve listened to feedback and even though I am only two home games in at the moment, things are going well.
“My favourite meal to cook is roast dinners, so those in the hospitality areas at last Saturday’s game against Bideford were treated to roast beef and all the trimmings.”
With just one defeat from their opening seven League games, it has certainly been an impressive start to the season for the Magpies who host in-form Bristol Manor Farm at the weekend in what promises to be a tasty affair in more ways than one!
