AFC TOTTON | GETTING BACK ON THE HORSE

Ball looking to bounce back

Having fallen off the horse at the weekend with a 1-0 home defeat to Ramsgate in the Emirates FA Cup, AFC Totton have the chance to get straight back on this evening as they head to local rivals, Sholing.

“Things didn’t go our way on Saturday,” admitted manager, Jimmy Ball. “But the good thing about football is that there’s always another game coming up and what better way to bounce back than with a local derby?

“It’s good to have this game so quickly afterwards and it has all the ingredients to be a hard-fought and entertaining encounter, just like many of our meetings have been in recent years.

“Our hosts were able to have a break at the weekend with no game whilst we had a tough battle, but we’ll just use this as fuel to make sure that we go there and do the right things.”

The Stags sit eighth in the Pitching In Southern League Premier South table with five wins from their nine League outings, whilst Sholing are only three points behind but have played 11 games, from which they have won four.

For Sholing, it will be the penultimate game at the helm for Dave Diaper after 25 years in charge. He will be moving upstairs after Saturday’s visit of Hungerford Town to be replaced in the hot-seat by Paul Doswell.
