Mark Molesley is back at his ‘special place’ having been appointed manager of Pitching In Southern League Premier South outfit, Hayes & Yeading United.
The 42 year-old came through the youth ranks at the club to make over 160 League appearances before embarking upon a playing career that took him to the likes of AFC Bournemouth, Exeter City and Aldershot Town as well as earning England recognition at C level.
His managerial career has taken in the likes of Weymouth, Southend United, Aldershot Town and Gosport Borough and now he has been charged with the task of getting United moving up the table following a start to the campaign that has seen them win four of their opening 11 League games.
“It’s great to be back at the place where it all started for me,” he told us. “But with the situation that we are in, I can’t afford to be distracted by the emotion of it all.
“There’s a job to be done here and my first task is to ensure that the players are all fully focussed on the task in hand and give everything.
“The mentality of the players has really impressed me so far; we’ve worked hard on the training pitch and it’s clear to see already that everything here is geared for us to kick-on.
“We have to ensure that our performances on the pitch match the ambition being show off it.
“Rome wasn’t built in a day and it’s going to take plenty of hard work to realise the potential here and get the club moving in the right direction.
“It’s going to be all hands to the pump but I am looking forward to the challenge that stands before me.”
Molesley will be assisted by Ritchie Hanlon who reverts to the role that he had under Paul Hughes having started the campaign as manager.
Saturday sees Hayes & Yeading play host to high-flying Merthyr Town.
