ISUZU FA TROPHY FIRST ROUND PROPER | WEEKEND REVIEW

A round-up of our Member Clubs' progress

The Izusu FA Trophy reached the first round proper stage with a number of our clubs still involved in the competition.

Coalville Town made it through with a hard-earned 1-0 win at Premier Central rivals, Alvechurch, thanks to Joe Doyle-Charles’ first half goal.

There was defeat for Stamford as they went down by a single-goal at City of Liverpool, whilst Chesham United also went out as they lost 5-3 on penalties at Cray Wanderers following a 1-1 draw after 90 minutes.

Two all Premier South ties saw Beaconsfield Town win 2-1 at Harrow Borough, whilst Hendon won by the same scoreline against Walton & Hersham.

Despite their off-the-field issues this week, Nuneaton Borough won their tie, which was switched to Hyde United by two goals to nil as Milan Butterfield and Owen Oseni got the all-important goals.

Larkhall Athletic lost 2-1 at home to Horsham whilst there was a 4-1 reverse for Halesowen Town at Macclesfield.

Having played out a goalless draw at Nantwich Town, there was penalty shoot-out woe for Stratford Town as they lost 4-2.

Two Premier Central sides who safely made it through are Leiston, who won 1-0 at Potters Bar Town, and Redditch United (pictured) who enjoyed a solid 3-0 success against Ashton United.

Leighton Town are out after they lost 2-1 at South Park, whilst St. Ives Town put their League struggles behind them to secure a good 3-1 triumph over Marine.

Similarly, Stourbridge found their form as they brushed aside Bamber Bridge by five goals to one at Amblecote.

There were away wins for Basingstoke Town, who prospered 3-0 at Premier South rivals, Swindon Supermarine, Hungerford Town, who were 3-1 winners at Westfield, and Premier Central leaders, Mickleover, who went to Worksop Town and came home with a fantastic 5-0 victory.

On Friday evening, Frome Town edged past their Division One South rivals, Cribbs, 1-0.
