NEEDHAM MARKET | VALENTINE'S DAY

Love is in the air as Marketmen add to options

Needham Market have built from a position of strength by adding to their options with the loan signing of Nico Valentine from Ipswich Town.

The 18 year-old, who signed his first professional contract at the Sky Bet Championship club last year, has been a regular in their Under-21 team and is now ready for the next part of his development.

He joins a team who are flying high in the Pitching In Southern League Premier Central table with just two defeats from 16 League games to leave them in second place, five points off the top.

"I've been itching to get started ever since the move got confirmed,” admitted the winger, who was forced to sit out Saturday’s comeback victory over Bromsgrove Sporting having picked up a knock in training. “I'm ready to hit the ground running. This is going to be a good experience for me and I will be looking to pick up as many minutes as I can and perform to a high level.

“Being here will stand me in good stead; the lads and coaching staff have been great and welcomed me into the group, which has helped me settle in quickly and focus on the football and what I can bring to the team.

“This is the natural next step in my development; this club is a perfect fit for me and I am determined to make the most of this opportunity and help the club continue to challenge at the top of the table.”

The Marketmen head to Barwell in their latest League encounter on Saturday when Valentine will be hoping to have his first involvement.
