WIMBORNE TOWN | FAN-TASTIC

Magpies flying at top of Division One South attendance table

It’s not only the Pitching In Southern League Division One South table that Wimborne Town sit proudly in pole position.

The Dorset outfit also top the attendance table with an average of 588 attending games at New Cuthbury this season.

There was an impressive 695 present at the weekend to see the 4-2 victory over fellow high-flyers, Willand Rovers, and manager, Tim Sills, has praised the backing that his players receive.

“It’s fantastic support,” he said. “Their superb backing gives us all an instant lift as soon as we come out to warm up and it sets the tone for us.

“To see so many people here is just brilliant; it creates an atmosphere for us that the lads are thriving in at the moment.

“They are definitely our 12th Man and the numbers we get for this level are brilliant.”

Saturday’s game saw The Magpies race into a three-goal lead against opponents who have spent more time at the top of the table than any other team this season.

They had a scare when Willand pulled two goals back, but Birthday boy, Jack Lovell, was on hand to complete his hat-trick and settle the nerves late on as he made it 4-2.

“At times on Saturday, we were incredible,” added Sills. “We should have wrapped the game up sooner than we did, but I was delighted to get the three points against a side who are in and around us in the table.”

Tuesday evening sees Wimborne back in home action as they entertain Larkhall Athletic, who arrive on the back of a convincing win at the weekend.
