In the Isuzu FA Trophy third round, it wasn’t to be for Pitching In Division One South outfit, Frome Town, who put up a brave fight but ultimately lost 4-1 at home to Torquay United in front of a record crowd of just over 1,300.
It was also a brave effort from Pitching In Southern League Premier Central high-flyers, Mickleover, who took Oldham Athletic to penalties at Boundary Park after it finished 3-3 after 90 minutes.
Oliver Greaves cancelled out a Latics opener with an equaliser just before the break and then Stuart Beavon made it 2-2 with just over 20 minutes to go. Within a minute of that goal, they had fallen behind again only for Beavon to notch his second with 84 minutes on the clock.
The subsequent penalty shoot-out ended in a 4-2 success for the home side.
Goals from Finaly Macnab and Billy Leonard saw Hendon claim the scalp of higher level Weymouth following a deserved 2-0 triumph, but sadly the remaining ties saw all of our Member Clubs bow out.
There were penalty shoot-out defeats for Hungerford Town at Aveley, and for Nuneaton Borough, at Coventry City’s CBS Arena, as they succumbed to AFC Fylde after it ended 2-2 on 90 minutes.
Stourbridge were well beaten at neighbours, Kidderminster Harriers, whilst AFC Totton went down 2-0 at Horsham.
The games involving Redditch United, at Pitching In Northern Premier League Premier leaders, Radcliffe, and Coalville Town, who were at Step 4 Walsall Wood, were both victims of the wet weather.
