KINGS LANGLEY | STAYING LOYAL

Inspirational skipper looking forward to reaching milestone

Kings Langley will be honouring their inspirational skipper, Jorell Johnson, ahead of their New Year’s Day encounter with Ware as he makes his 300th appearance for the club.

The accomplished central defender joined the Pitching In Southern League Division One Central outfit ahead of the 2016/17 season having come through the ranks at Watford.

“I am very proud to be able to reach this milestone at this special club,” said Johnson, who turns 28 the day after the game. “There are not many players out there now who stay at clubs for too long, so I’m proud to be one of those who have stayed loyal.

“There have loads of stand-out games along the way; particular memories are the final game of my first season at the club when we won to stay up - there have been a few of those - and a couple of years ago when Gary Connolly scored a last-minute winner at Dorchester Town.

“The first half of this season has been good. We’re a new group still working out how each other players but we’re sitting just outside the play-off zone having lost only five of our 17 League games; if we can stay in the pack, we will be fine.

“The standard of Division One Central is very good this season. One look at the table shows how many teams are in the mix and fancying their chances of making the play-offs.

“I’ve always been an advocate for non-League football as it’s always a good standard and there are some really talented players plying their trade in this League.

“Hopefully we can have a strong second half of the season and finish as high up the table as possible.”
