POOLE TOWN | PLAYING CATCH UP

Dolphins looking for a run of games

When Poole Town stepped out against Swindon Supermarine in the wind and rain on Tuesday evening, it was their first action since Boxing Day.

A late winner from Tony-James Lee leaves them handily-placed just inside the top ten of the Pitching In Southern League Premier South table, with as many as eight games in hand over the clubs around them.

“It’s been like a mini pre-season,” admitted manager, Matt Tubbs. “We’ve been able to reset and get players back from injury, so we’ve got strength in depth and now we’re just chomping at the bit to get a run of games.

“Form-wise we’re in a good place; Tuesday’s victory made it five games unbeaten and we were good value for our three points against strong opponents who have picked up some decent results just lately.

“We knew it wouldn’t be pretty with the conditions in our last game. We found it hard to deal with in the first half but we managed to weather the storm. We know that we’ve got goals in us and if we kept putting the ball in the right areas then it would eventually fall for us, which it did.

“Credit to the lads because they kept going to get their reward and now we want to be able to build on this.”

Tubbs takes his Dolphins to Tiverton Town at the weekend.
