POOLE TOWN | TWO CHOICES

Manager, James Ellis, gives his verdict

After Saturday’s 4-0 reverse at Winchester City, the Poole Town players have two choices ahead of tonight’s Pitching In Southern League Premier South clash at Hendon, according to manager, James Ellis.

“They can either hide and find reasons why Saturday’s result happened,” he said. “Or they can see this as a chance to come back fighting, roll their sleeves up and show what they are capable of.

“It’s a tough away day and a long trip for a Tuesday evening, but the game gives us an immediate opportunity to respond to what was a poor performance at the weekend.

“From start to finish, we were second-best in every aspect. We could have lost by an even bigger margin than we did and I was both angry and disappointed at the end.

“We need to find out why we struggled to get going; our preparation was positive, we had energy and commitment in the build-up to the game and then saw the exact opposite once the action got underway.

“You can come up with all sorts of reasons, but ultimately we were individually poor and that needs to change, starting tonight.”

The defeat at the weekend leaves the Dolphins 12th, amongst a cluster of clubs that sit in the middle of the table, hoping that they can secure a top half berth.
