Stags building momentum

AFC Totton are heading into the final weeks of the season in fine form.

Saturday’s commanding 5-0 triumph over Tiverton Town made it five Pitching In Southern League Premier South games unbeaten as they strengthen their position within the play-off places.

Spearheading this impressive run is front-man, Tony Lee, whose ‘perfect’ hat-trick at the weekend made it ten goals from his last nine League outings.

“We knew that our final five games were going to be tough, so it was nice to make a positive start on Saturday,” Lee told his club’s media. “To get a hat-trick was a nice bonus; it was left, foot, right foot and header, so I am happy about that, but it was the quality of assists that made it possible.

“We’ve got such a good group of lads here and they are giving us a foundation to build upon, which we will take into these final weeks and hopefully the play-offs.

“For me personally, this run of form is up there with the best of my career; I am enjoying my football again, which is the main thing and I am playing with a lot of confidence, so long may it continue.”

The Stags host Bracknell Town on Wednesday before heading to Hungerford Town at the weekend. Their final two games see them host another play-off hopeful in Merthyr Town and then end the regular season at Dorchester Town.
