Things are getting very interesting across our four divisions.
On Saturday in the Premier South, champions, Walton & Hersham, went down to a 3-1 defeat at Evesham United, who gained valuable points in their quest to avoid the bottom four.
In second place, Gloucester City had their victory at Dorchester Town sewn up pretty early. They went in at the break five goals to the good and that is how it remained as their hosts now cling on to their Step 3 status by their fingertips.
Farnham Town picked up a good 2-1 away win at play-off chasing Sholing, whilst Poole Town grabbed a 1-0 away success at another side with play-off aspirations in Chertesy Town. It meant that Berkhamsted’s hard-earned 1-0 win at Wimborne Town was made all the more sweeter as they now hold a four-point advantage in the final play-off spot.
At the bottom, Hungerford Town’s relegation was confirmed following a 3-1 home reverse at the hands of Basingstoke Town.
Into the Premier Central and Harborough Town have been crowned Champions after their 3-1 triumph at play-off hopefuls, combined with Spalding United’s 3-1 home loss at the hands of Stratford Town.
We send our congratulations to everyone at Harborough Town on their achievement.
In the race to make the play-offs, Real Bedford had a good 4-1 win at Redditch United, whilst Kettering Town are up to fourth after they beat Worcester City 2-1. Just two points separates fifth to eighth with Needham Market coming from behind to beat Barwell 2-1 and Quorn losing 2-1 to Leiston amidst the aforementioned set-backs for Halesowen Town and Redditch United.
The defeat for Barwell means that they have become the third team to have relegation confirmed.
In Division One South, Champions, Frome Town, were held to a 1-1 draw at Exmouth Town as second-placed Malvern Town left it late to secure a 1-0 success at Didcot Town and in doing so keep up their record of being the only Southern League club to score in every League game.
Third-placed Portishead Town kept up their challenge for second place as they won 2-0 at Mousehole. They will host Malvern next weekend. Remaining fourth despite losing 2-1 at Shaftesbury are Winchester City, whilst Bishops Cleeve hold the final play-off place after they brought home a point from a 1-1 draw with Willand Rovers.
Following a commanding 5-0 victory over Rayners Lane, the Division One Central title was secured by Leighton Town. We congratulate everyone at the club on their achievement.
Behind them, second-placed Hitchin Town chalked up a 3-0 triumph over MK Irish. There was also victory for Biggleswade FC, who came home from Northwood 3-1 victors. Biggleswade Town were made to work hard for their 1-0 success over Flackwell Heath.
Holding onto the final play-off place are Thame United despite losing 4-3 at Welwyn Garden City as Hertford Town were unable to capitalise at they fell 3-1 at Marlow.
All four relegation places in this division have already been confirmed.
