Pitching In Southern Football League Premier Division South club Tiverton Town have announced the arrival of three new signings, all of whom are familiar faces to supporters at Ladysmead.

Striker Matt Wright has agreed to re-join the Yellows following his departure from Southern Division One South newcomers Plymouth Parkway recently.

The 30-year-old joined Parkway in May 2020 from Tiverton`s league rivals and neighbours side Taunton Town.

He had joined the Peacocks over the summer of 2016 from then-Vanarama National League South side Truro City.

An experienced striker whose early career was spent at Swansea City and Crystal Palace including a loan spell at Woking.

He helped Salisbury City win the Southern Premier play-offs before a stint in Sweden followed with Pitea IF in 2012.

He then went on to feature for Tiverton under John Clarkson and scored 18 times as the side finished third in Division One South & West in 2013/14 before losing in the play-offs.

He went on to Bideford until joining Truro later in 2014.

Joint manager Scott Rogers told his club`s website: “We are delighted to get Wrighty. He’s been a thorn in our side for quite a few years.

“I spoke to Tom Gardner about him and he was full of praise for him. Tom said he was one of his toughest opponents to play against. I'm not going to lie, it wasn't easy at first to get him to sign because of his allegiances to Taunton but he’s got the opportunity to step back up the football ladder.

“Your football career is a short one and you have to make the most of it, which is what we told him. I’m sure he’ll be a massive player and character for us this season.”

Tiverton have also snapped up two former loanees from League Two neighbours Exeter City in Louis Morison and Theo Simpson.

Morison made 9 appearances on loan from the Grecians last season.

He is an industrious central midfielder who can start attacks with good quality off both feet.

He progressed through Exeter's academy, which he had been a part of since the under-9s age group.

He was the City under-18 captain and was a key figure in the 2018/19 squad that reached the EFL National Cup final.

He made his first-team debut in the Grecians 3-2 win over Forest Green Rovers in the EFL Trophy on September 8th 2020, having signed his first professional contract with in June.

Scott Rogers added: “We’re thrilled to get Louis back with us permanently.

“He came in on loan from Exeter last season and adapted to Southern League football very well.

“But, for one reason or another, things didn't go according to plan at Exeter and if he’s got any aspirations of getting back into the Football League, he has to come back fitter and stronger than he`s ever been and hit the ground running straight away.”

He has been followed by 20-year-old former team-mate, striker Theo Simpson.

He played for Exeter in the EFL under-18s Alliance League and put in some impressive performances for the under-23s in the Merit League and the under-23s Premier League Cup.

Simpson, who is from St Ives in Cornwall, also spent time om loan at Barnstaple Town, Bideford AFC and Willand Rovers over the last few seasons.

Scott Rogers said: “Theo’s had a tough few years with injuries, most notably breaking his leg twice in the last few seasons but before this I know Exeter had high expectations for him.

“He’s a nice lad with a great attitude and this is an excellent opportunity for him to knuckle down, work hard in pre-season and get people talking about him again.”

In addition, two more of last season`s squad have put pen-to-paper for Tivvy for the new 2021/22 campaign.

Attacking midfielder Ed Butcher, 27, signed for the Yellows exactly a year ago from Southern Division One South side Paulton Rovers.

He had been with Rovers since the summer of 2019 after joining from Street, having previously been on the books at Bridport and Chard Town.

And Truro-born midfielder Billy Craske has also agreed to stay at Ladysmead.

The 21-year-old joined Tiverton from National League side Bromley in February 2020.

He had joined the Ravens from Plymouth Argyle in August 2018.
