AFC Rushden & Diamonds have announced that manager Andy Peaks has committed to the Pitching In Southern Football League Premier Division Central club for the 2021/22 season.

Peaks joined the management team in May 2012 as assistant to Mark Starmer, bringing a wealth of experience as well as his notable career history with the sadly now defunct Rushden & Diamonds, where he was eighth in their all-time appearance list, having played 205 times between 1992 and 1997.

Peaks, who holds a UEFA B coaching license, took over control of first-team affairs in a caretaker role following Starmer’s resignation in March 2014, and was installed on a permanent basis a month later.

In his first full season at the helm, he took the club to a league and cup `double` in the United Counties League and has since led to the end-of-season play-offs twice before winning promotion to Step 3 at the end of the 2017/18 season.

Peaks has signed a new contract and is looking forward to the new season, telling the club`s website: “It’s been a challenging couple of seasons, but I’m pleased the club has shown their confidence in me to continue our journey in the Southern League.

“Hopefully, we’ll be able to start and complete the new season without any interruptions. The players reported back for pre-season training last night and I’ll be looking at them all over the next few weeks in training and in the friendlies. I’m looking forward to getting going”.
